SkateĀpark in a Box
Fits everĀyĀwhere
āSkateĀpark in a Boxā can be set up almost anywhere in the world ā even in crisis areas.
The contaiĀners are the decisive stage of deveĀloĀpĀment, because on the one hand they expand the range of opporĀtuĀniĀties, and on the other hand they create secure storage faciĀliĀties.
āSkateĀpark in a Boxā is a new concept, flexible and sustainable at the same time, for the further deveĀloĀpĀment of mobile skateĀparks all over the world.
As its name suggests, the project consists of a skateĀpark and a box. The skateĀpark is tailĀored to the on-site condiĀtions by the Cologne landĀscape archiĀtect and skateĀpark speciaĀlist Ralf Maier. The box is made from an overĀseas shipĀping container, which the StuttĀgart company KuKuk Box transĀforms into a versaĀtile sports and leisure faciĀlity.
The contaiĀners are the decisive stage of deveĀloĀpĀment, because on the one hand they expand the range of opporĀtuĀniĀties, and on the other hand they create secure storage faciĀliĀties (espeĀciĀally for the sports equipĀment).
This means that āSkateĀpark in a Boxā can be set up almost anywhere in the world: in large inner-city squares, in the counĀtryĀside, in niches and alcoves ā but also in crisis areas, where opporĀtuĀniĀties like this are perhaps even more important than anywhere else.
The sponsor of this concept, and of many skate faciĀliĀties worldĀwide, is the skate-aid founĀdaĀtion.

The concept works just as well as a tempoĀrary instalĀlaĀtion for events as it does for the permaĀnent enrichĀment of sports and leisure actiĀviĀties.
The converted contaiĀners are the crucial constant at āSkateĀpark in a Boxā because the storage faciĀliĀties in partiĀcular guarantee that they can be used safely and secuĀrely around the world. As well as a skateĀpark, the sports and exerĀcise offer can also include a BMX trail, for example.
The contaiĀners provide space for all the necesĀsary equipĀment. The mobile ramps are stored in a space-saving way, the bikes and scooĀters are anchored to holders, the boards are neatly stacked on rails and the protecĀtive equipĀment, like the helmets and the knee and elbow pads, are sorted by size into boxes under the counter.
There is even a toolbox and a first-aid kit on board.
A folding bench and coat hooks make it easy to move the container, or to turn it into a lounge with seating and recreaĀtional faciĀliĀties, a meeting place for real experts to talk shop and exchĀange expeĀriĀences.
The only thing missing is the campĀfire.
āSkateĀpark in a Boxā is extreĀmely flexible. The concept is just as suitable as a tempoĀrary instalĀlaĀtion for events or during renoĀvaĀtion work as it is as a permaĀnent addiĀtion to sports and leisure faciĀliĀties.
As the contaiĀners are deliĀvered prefaĀbriĀcated by lorry to their destiĀnaĀtion and require no further design or founĀdaĀtions, assembly and possible dismantĀling are also very easy to impleĀment.
āSkateĀpark in a Boxā promotes not only athletic deveĀloĀpĀment, but also indiĀviĀdual and social deveĀloĀpĀment.
The combiĀnaĀtion of sports faciĀliĀties and contaiĀners has great potenĀtial, espeĀciĀally for social projects. As soon as the faciĀliĀties have been set up, a programme with free skateĀboarĀding workĀshops, incluĀding proviĀding sports equipĀment, can be started on site.
The skate-aid founĀdaĀtion has a lot of expeĀriĀence in traiĀning local coaches who run the skate parks indeĀpendently and superĀvise skaters.
In this way, āSkateĀpark in a Boxā promotes not only athletic deveĀloĀpĀment, but also indiĀviĀdual and social deveĀloĀpĀment ā for children and young people as well as for coaches.
āSkateĀpark in a Boxā has already been set up at several locaĀtions, incluĀding Cologne-EhrenĀfeld, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, WesterĀwald, Berlin and in a refugee camp in Pirlita/Balti (Moldova).
During the FSB 2023 there will be plenty of opporĀtuĀniĀties to expeĀriĀence and try out the āSkateĀpark in a Boxā concept.
During the FSB 2023 there will be plenty of opporĀtuĀniĀties to expeĀriĀence and try out the āSkateĀpark in a Boxā concept ā for example in the outdoor area of Hall 9. In addiĀtion, Ralf Maier will present his projects through lectures and an exhiĀbiĀtion.
KuKuk Box has been builĀding artisĀtiĀcally desiĀgned, innoĀvaĀtive and style-defiĀning play and outdoor spaces througĀhout the world for over 15 years. KuKukās expeĀriĀenced team is made up of artists, archiĀtects, carpenĀters, joiners, metalĀworĀkers and educaĀtors ā and will also be on site during the FSB.
